Poem: Shadows

There were only shadows that remained

Disappearing silhouettes of familiar figures and

smiling faces

Seemed to have etched into the walls of her memory

And voices that no longer echoed from the corners

of her four poster bed

Played themselves inside her head.

Only shadows remained

Left behind by the parting sun

So solemnly she waited for the company of the moon.

But the moon too was unfaithful

Just as the passing seasons of momentary joy,

of warmth,

of sorrow,

and darkness,

and broken dreams.

Ever interchanging

Light and dark

And light again

And dark again.

Like a pendulum

Ever in motion

Thrusting forth into bliss and high heavens

Quenching thirst in the loving breeze of the divine Mother

Arms wrapped, skin covered in the silent whispers of the Eternal Lover

Days spent basking in the laughters of small children

and small they were, pure and innocent like the first snowfall of winter.

Then came night when all innocence plunged head first into the

deepest pit of her fears

Buried waist deep in shame and guilt, anger and desire

Dreaming with eyes wide open

Only consciousness separated her from herself

Though heavy was her pride, anchored to the sweet devil's murmurs

So slowly she began to sway to the tunes of her Master.

But grace never left her.

As Heaven watched through a thin veil from above

Patiently awaited her return.

And so she rose to grace

She fell from it

And she rose again

and fell again.

Like a pendulum

Ever swinging

Ever in motion.
